Courant Institute cross-departmental seminar focused on the interactions between AI and mathematics, computing and data science.

Statement and Goals

AI is signaling a profound change across all disciplines represented in our School, and mathematics in particular is witnessing this change on an accelerated timescale. This seminar series aims to be a forum to discuss and analyze these changes.

Our goal is to host talks that cover several aspects of this new age, including

• The mathematical substance of new results obtained with the help of AI, including how AI was used in the process.
• High-level visions of how AI might reshape the discipline.
• AI methodology and (auto)formalization.

We also plan to host panels, debates and town hall events, to capture our community’s diverse reactions to these developments.
